Mrs. Lapp's  Art Class

Welcome to my art class website!  I am  excited about the upcoming  school year.  We are so fortunate here at Telluride Elementary, Intermediate and TECC to have  primary art education (not to mention technology, physical education,  library, and music education) taught by qualified specialists.

I hope this website will give you a better understanding of the TES and TIS preK-3rd art program.  Please ask your little one about what they are learning in their "specials" classes. Your child's work will be kept throughout the year in their own personal portfolio in the art room.

Due to the limited supply budget for the art department (which amounts to only about $3.50 per K-3rd grade child for the whole school year), I lead a fund raiser called "Art to Remember" in the fall.  The 33% profit goes directly into the art budget, allowing your child to create with more pricey materials, such as clay, soft pastels, and paint. For more information, read the "What's New?" file.

We will have an art show at the end of the year featuring your child's best work! The student galleries on this site show  a few samples of student work from each of the five PreKg through 3rd grades (16 classes) I teach at TECC, TES, and TIS.  Student art will also be displayed in the hallways of our schools.  I urge you to contact me via email  if you have questions or concerns.

"It took me my whole life to draw like a child"     -Picasso (left painting Three Musicians 1921)

"I was a really lousy artist as a kid. Too abstract expressionist, or I'd draw a ram's head, really messy. I'd never win painting contests. I remember losing to a guy who did a perfect spiderman."  -Basquiat (right painting,  Tenor 1985)
